Punjab Jail Warder and Matron Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying for the recruitment. The details are as follows:

Educational Qualification

  • For Both Warder & Matron: Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Education Board with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi Language as specified by the Government from time to time.

Punjab govt jobs Selection Process

The selection process for Punjab Jail Warder and Matron Recruitment consists of the following stages:

  1. Written Examination (Objective Type – MCQ):
    • The written exam will consist of two parts: Part A and Part B.
    • Part A will be a qualifying paper on Punjabi Language (10th standard level). Candidates must secure at least 50% marks to qualify.
    • Part B will be the merit-based paper. There will be negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer.
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for PMT to verify physical standards.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who clear the PMT will be called for the PET.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates who successfully clear all the above stages will be called for document verification and counseling.
