School days are the golden period of life. I vividly remember my first day at school, which took place when I was around five years old. It was at a small private school located in my hometown, not very far from where I lived. Even though many years have passed, that day is still etched in my memory.
To begin with, I was dressed in a brand-new uniform and carried a neatly packed school bag that was almost bigger than me. My parents dropped me off at the school gate, and I recall feeling a strange mix of excitement and nervousness. Initially, I was feeling out of place. But when I entered the classroom which was brightly decorated, and the teachers were warm and welcoming. So I felt at ease.
During the day, we were introduced to our class teacher, learned a few basic rules, and participated in amazing activities like singing rhymes and drawing pictures. I also made my first friend while sharing crayons, which made the experience more enjoyable. However, there were moments when I missed my parents and felt slightly overwhelmed by the unfamiliar environment.
Overall, my first day at school was an emotional roller coaster. Although I was anxious at the start, by the end of the day I felt proud and happy, as I had taken my first step into the world of formal education.
