Answer: IELTS speaking cue cards
I’d like to describe an unusual meal I had around two years ago during a short road trip with my friends.
We had this meal at a tiny roadside eatery on a highway while travelling to a hill station. It was a very basic setup, with a few plastic chairs and an open cooking area, which immediately made the entire feel quite different from a typical restaurant.
I shared this meal with three of my close friends. The dish itself was rather unconventional—it was a fusion of noodles, locally sourced vegetables, and strong regional spices, all stir-fried together in a large iron pan. What stood out was that the food was served on eco-friendly leaf plates, which added to the novelty of the experience.
I consider this meal unusual mainly because of the entire setting and presentation. Despite the simplicity of the place, the food was mouth watering, and the ambience—eating outdoors with a scenic view and constant movement of traffic—was unexpectedly enjoyable. It contrasted sharply with the comfort and predictability of indoor dining.
Overall, the meal was memorable because it proved that unique experiences often come from the most unexpected places, and that food doesn’t have to be elaborate to be deeply satisfying. I will cherish it forever.
