DHFW Punjab House Surgeon Eligibility

• The candidate must possess the minimum qualification of MBBS from a recognized University.
• In case of a foreign medical graduate, the candidate must have cleared the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
• The candidate should be registered with the Punjab Medical Council/Medical Council of India/National Medical Council.
• The candidate should have passed Punjabi up to Matric level or an equivalent examination conducted by the Language Department, Punjab, as per the latest instructions issued by the Government of Punjab from time to time.
• The age of the candidate shall be less than 37 years.
• The candidate should be physically and mentally fit according to the standards of fitness provided for entrance to the Punjab State Medical Service.

DHFW Punjab House Surgeon Recruitment Selection Process

The selection process for DHFW Punjab House Surgeon Recruitment 2026 is based on merit and conducted through the following steps.

Merit: Merit will be determined on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in the professional examination, i.e., 1st, 2nd, and Final Professional MBBS university examinations.

Selection Committee: Applications are invited by the Director Health Services for the entire state through a common advertisement. The Selection Committee is constituted at the District Level, comprising:

1. Civil Surgeon of the District — Chairman
2. Assistant Civil Surgeon
3. Representative of the Deputy Commissioner
4. District Social Justice Empowerment Officer

Counseling: Candidates will attend counseling at their respective District Civil Surgeon office as per the first preferred district filled in the online application form. Merit of candidates will be considered priority-wise; the next priority applicant will be considered only after all applicants of the previous priority are exhausted/considered.

• Remuneration: Rs. 70,000/- per month for the House Surgeon post.
