Educational Qualification – Research Engineer

• B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience in the specific specialization applied for; OR
• M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (with relevant specialization) and 3 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 65% marks in the qualifying degree (60% for SC/ST category candidates applying against reserved posts).
• The Bachelor’s/Master’s degree must be a full-time regular course from a UGC-recognized Indian University, UGC-recognized Deemed University, or AICTE-approved course from an autonomous Indian institution.
• Desirable qualification for the Fluid Flow Research specialization: Ph.D.
• Detailed specialization-specific experience requirements (e.g., two-phase/multi-phase flow research, CFD in thermal and fluids engineering, design and testing of valves, fluid flow research) are given in the detailed notification at www.fcriindia.com.

Educational Qualification – Junior Research Engineer

• B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/Electrical & Electronics, or Instrumentation-related Engineering, as per the post code applied for.
• Minimum 65% marks in the qualifying degree (60% for SC/ST category candidates applying against reserved posts).
• Freshers may apply for the post of Junior Research Engineer; no prior work experience is required.
• Candidates awaiting final results of their qualifying degree may also apply, provided they upload final marksheets and degree certificates on or before 31.08.2026, along with an online undertaking; failure to do so will result in automatic cancellation of candidature.
• The Bachelor’s degree must be a full-time regular 4-year programme after 10+2, or a lateral-entry 3-year programme after a Diploma in the relevant discipline, from a UGC/AICTE-recognized institution.

FCRI Selection Process 2026

The selection process for FCRI Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in three stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Applications will be screened based on educational qualifications, experience criteria, age, and payment of applicable fee.
2. Written Test (for Junior Research Engineer posts only): Shortlisted candidates will appear for an online MCQ-based test in bilingual mode (Hindi/English) at test centres in Coimbatore and/or Kochi.
3. Personal Interview: Provisionally shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification followed by a personal interview at FCRI, Palakkad, or any other approved city. For Research Engineer posts, selection will be based on interview, with FCRI reserving the right to add further stages of assessment if required.

FCRI Exam Pattern 2026 (Junior Research Engineer)

The written examination for Junior Research Engineer posts will be conducted online in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format.

The question paper is divided into three parts: Part-A (15 questions on Reasoning & Numerical Ability, common to all disciplines), Part-B (15 questions on Probability & Statistics, Data Science & Programming, and Measurement Principles, common to all disciplines), and Part-C (70 questions specific to the candidate’s engineering discipline — Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, or Civil Engineering).

The final rank list for Junior Research Engineer posts will be prepared based on weightage of 80% for the written test and 20% for the interview.
