The National Testing Agency has announced that the NEET UG 2026 cancelled following serious allegations of paper leak and irregularities. The decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after inputs received from central investigation agencies and law enforcement authorities.

According to the latest statement issued by NTA, the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026, will now be re-conducted on fresh dates, which will be announced separately.

The agency stated that the step has been taken to maintain transparency, fairness and credibility in the national-level medical entrance examination process.

After examining the findings shared by investigative agencies, the testing body decided to cancel the examination entirely and conduct a fresh test for all candidates.

Rajasthan Paper Leak Allegations Trigger Investigation

Reports of a possible NEET paper leak first surfaced from Rajasthan shortly after the examination was conducted on May 3. The Rajasthan Special Operations Group launched a detailed investigation into the matter after receiving intelligence inputs regarding suspicious activities linked to the examination.

According to reports, investigators recovered a handwritten suggestion paper in which nearly 120 questions reportedly matched the actual NEET UG 2026 question paper.

Sources claimed that around 90 Biology questions and nearly 30 Chemistry questions were found to be identical or closely related to the questions asked in the examination. This incident led to news of NEET UG 2026 cancelled.

Centre Orders CBI Probe in NEET UG 2026 Case

Following the growing controversy surrounding the alleged paper leak, and NTA announcing the NEET UG 2026 cancelled, the Central Government has reportedly ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation to examine the matter thoroughly and identify those involved in the alleged malpractice.

The investigation is expected to focus on the source of the leak, involvement of coaching networks or intermediaries and possible lapses in examination security arrangements.

With the cancellation of NEET UG 2026, over 22 lakh medical aspirants across the country will now have to appear for the re-examination once new dates are announced.
